The Serpent Defeated and the Gospel Preached
February 2024.
My name is P and I come from a Hindu background. When I turned fourteen, I was asked to marry. I started attending church because of this, but the demands of village life kept me from attending often. When I did go to church, it was merely a routine for me and it didn't bring about any real change in my life. I turned to alcohol and chewing tobacco for comfort.
Then, when I was fifteen and married, a severe illness confined me to the hospital for over a year. During my sickness, I had a profound dream. I found myself standing beside a vast ocean with a colossal snake approaching to strike me from behind. Suddenly, an elderly man intervened, swiftly cutting the serpent into three parts and casting them into the ocean. This man took my hand and guided me across the ocean. Upon reaching the other side, I stood before a magnificent house adorned with golden and brazen floors and ceilings. The elderly man accompanied me to a set of stairs and escorted me up to the second step. Two large bags of lentil seeds awaited. He instructed me to ascend further and sow the seeds as I went. While confined to the hospital during this challenging period, my pastor and the church tirelessly prayed for my recovery. Gradually, I began to heal.
At the age of twenty, I came to a profound realization of how Jesus had saved me from my illness. This realization prompted me to make a conscious decision to accept Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and get baptized. I felt the weight of my sins being forgiven and a clear call to engage in the work of Christ. Experiencing Christ’s forgiveness has since empowered me to forgive those who have hurt me and sow the seed of Christ’s love to others.
My life's purpose now extends beyond personal pursuits to living for Christ’s glory. In response to prayer, my desire to share God’s Word among the mothers of the church was made possible. Despite initially being unable to read, I resolved to learn Nepali, and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I am now able to read and comprehend the Word of God. I have since shared God’s Word in various cottage services, mother's services, and Sunday services.
Undergoing Acts training has propelled my spiritual growth and enabled me to start a house church with my husband in our village before graduating. My life’s goal has changed and I dream of sowing seeds of the gospel among Gentiles to uplift the discouraged in Christ. In a few years I envision moving to a new village to spread the good news to the people there. I strive to complete the work God has given me, for His glory.
