The Gospel for the Unreached

May 31, 2022

If you are like me, then when you think about unreached people, you may think there is no way for people from that people group to hear the gospel without the witness of a missionary. In part, that is right. Unreached people groups have no gospel presence or witness among them. Yet, if you keep up with the events of the global Church, then you have heard stories that may even be triggered now of people having dreams of Jesus or other supernatural encounters. I think we all love hearing those stories; however, sometimes the way a person from an unreached people group comes to know and believe the gospel is by simply moving to a new area. You could think of it as missions in reverse. An unreached person from an unreached people group leaves his or her own people to go to another place where there is a gospel presence, and then that person hears the gospel.

Such is the case for one of our current Training Center Students. B is from a totally unreached and unengaged village in Nepal from which he moved to India in hopes of finding a cleaning job in a hotel. At that time, B would have described his life as unhappy and without peace, regardless of the fact that he did find work in a hotel.

One day, a co-worker shared the gospel with B. As B heard of Christ’s sacrificial death to save people like him, he finally felt the peace and the joy for which he had been longing. After sharing, B’s co-worker asked B if he wanted to trust in Christ as his Lord and Savior. That day, B was rescued from the domain of darkness and was transferred to the Kingdom of the Beloved Son.

Not long after, B found himself in his home village again. He looked for a nearby church to attend to foster his newfound Christian faith, but the nearest church was very far away. B began to pray for a church in his village and for Bible training. Later, B was able to connect with the pastor of that nearest church and found out that he was an Acts Training Center graduate. The pastor told B about the Training Center he attended and B saw it as an answer to his prayers! B is now a students at an Acts Training Center with the desire to plant a church in his home village after graduation.
